*I almost forgot…the midi cabling for the Mesa’s. MIDI JAM UPDATE UPDATEOnce I get my cases/heads back I’ll update those as well. The simple explanation is I can’t really hear a difference live and we’re too lazy to fish a more cables through the snake. I’ve been asked why I don’t run the time or modulation effects thru the amp effects loop in a 4 cable method. MIDI JAM UPDATE FULLThe Mastermind is a great tool that I’m definitely not using to its full potential. However, I have the songs programmed on pages in the Mastermind for quick access. I can switch patches from the Mastermind for both Strymon pedals individually if I need to. Since the Mesa RK2’s come with a 9 pin midi cable foot switch that is surfboard size, the RJM Mini Amp Gizmos are paired to the RJM Mastermind to switches five and six for dual channel switching. So on the RJM Mastermind switch one is for the Strymon Mobius, switch two is for the Strymon Big Sky, switch 3 Boss DD-2, switch four is for the Boss Metal Zone. ![]() All the midi is handled under the temple board by 2 RJM Mini Amp Gizmos. One for the Strymon Mobius, one for the Strymon Big Sky, one for the Boss DD-2 (vintage blue label long chip) and one for the Boss Metal Zone. Inside the RJM Mastermind I have a few loops set up. MIDI JAM UPDATE MODThen stereo out the side of the Temple 4X mod to the Mesa RK2’s. The signal goes back into the RJM Mastermind where it is split to stereo and goes stereo to the TC Electronics Mimiq. From there it goes through their internal buffer (which can be moved pre or post or both which is killer) then the signal goes to the Ibanez Tube Screamer, Whammy Richochet, ISP Decimator and finally the Dunlop Dime CFH wah. That goes straight in the RJM Mastermind. So I go in to the side of the Temple audio board which has their 4X Mod to handle the inputs and outputs. It also functions as a looper for a few effects and has my on board tuner. Sorry for the long post….So the RJM Mastermind is functioning as a midi switcher for the Mesa Road King 2’s and my Strymons.
